New Year…New Beginnings: Personal Goals – Creating Your Own “Space”

Okay, we all know that the entire home is ours for the keeping but let’s get real! We would love to have our own space; you know a special part of the home devoted just for “you”!

Well, I will show you just how I created a spot in our small townhouse, just in the corner of our bedroom. This space is designed just for me and it is a perfect spot for me… (I really love it too!) Now my own personal space is where I spend getting myself ready for the day. I actually call it my “Diva” corner, I kid you not! It is nothing fancy, just an extra computer desk that I had sitting around that I decided I would use for a DIY vanity for my makeup and hair stuff.

I have to admit to you ladies now…I am a makeup addict! If you don’t know then I have to let you know that I am a girly girl by nature. I use to love to play dress up when I was a little girl and would conduct “spa parties” at my home in my Barbie room on a regular basis. Yes, I had a room with nothing but my Barbie dolls in it! *Don’t judge me! LOL* Hey, what can I say…I loved cutesy and all things pretty! Pretty and girly that is…anyway back to the matter at hand…

My love for beauty related products and skin care followed me throughout high school, college and on into adulthood. Once I got married, I knew that I wanted to greet my husband each day with a well put together look. Even if it is my quick 5 minute face look that I have put together (which I will share with you in another post) I try and find the time to apply makeup. I don’t wear a lot of it because I believe makeup is to be used to enhance the beauty you already have as a woman.

Even Queen Esther was given beauty treatments:

Esther 2:9 The girl pleased him and won his favor. Immediately he provided her with her beauty treatments and special food.

Esther 2:12 Now when every maid’s turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with other things for the purifying of the women;)

Creating Your “My Special Space”:

First, figure out what type of space you want to have: a place for quiet time, book reading spot, or a vanity area for your hair and makeup etc.

Secondly, decide where you want to put your special space: if you have a big home you may dedicate a room, if you have limited space, try an unused closet or the corner of a room etc.

Thirdly, give your special space a special name: I call mine “My Diva Corner” LOL! Why? I don’t know, it just sounds cool!

Next, gather special things and/items that you may want in your special space: Bible, pictures, makeup, favorite perfume, lotions etc.

Finally, go and create your special space! Take everything that you have gathered for your special space. Ask hubby to watch the kiddos and let your creativity run wild!

I pray that this post helps you in your quest to create a special space in your home. If you do decide to create a space or have one already, please send me a link with a picture of it in the comments so I can go and check it out! Until next time, my sisters…May the most high God Bless you!!!!

Love the idea of having a corner for yourself I’m fortunate in that I turned a spare bedroom in my townhouse into a yoga room. It was a walk-in closet before. Well worth the effort!
